A Summer offering to Njord

The god of Noatun is a Lord of Ships and a Dweller of Beaches. It therefore seems appropriate that offerings to Njord are placed in a sand boat by the ocean. Which is exactly what I did today.

Njord - oferenda 2013

Once it was ready, I sprinkled the boat with sea water and asked the god to bless it. I then placed grapes and an apple inside of it and hanged a wreath on the “mast”, each time ringing a bell (just like I do in ceremonies to Ingui). A final portion of sea water sprinkled over the whole set consecrated it to Njord under a clear Summer sky. Let the waves of the rising tide claim for the waters what the gulls haven’t taken!
